Our Ciaran O’Hare representing Sean Rodgers (38) of Derry in his conviction for the murder of Edward Meenan revealed that his client will now face a retrial after the Court of Appeal ordered a retrial.

Derry man Sean Rodgers, 38, was previously sentenced to a minimum of 18 years for the murder of Edward Meenan in 2018 but will now face a retrial as procedural errors meant the guilty verdict was unsafe.

Ciaran O’Hare of McIvor Farrell Solicitors said: “The court has recognised there were a number of significant procedural flaws in the conduct of the Crown Court trial which undermined the fairness and safety of our client’s conviction.”
